Tyre Stewardship Fee explained
“Approximately 4 million tyres reach their end of life annually in NZ”.
Just as tyres need to be changed regularly, the process for handling end-of-life tyres also required a change. Starting March 1 2024, the Tyrewise regulated product stewardship program begins. This regime is designed to minimise the environmental impact of disposing end-of-life tyres. This is a NZ wide, Tyre industry regulation introduced by the NZ Government. So what’s changing? Instead of ad hoc disposal fees, there will now be a tyre stewardship fee. Find out more at Tyrewise or speak to one of our friendly team members when you visit your local Tyre General branch.
